With more than 120k tourists per year, Svalbard is not ‘uncharted and virgin territory’ anymore. But 70% of the land is protected, thus keeping a high level of wilderness.
Touristic activities are mainly concentrated around the settlements and in Area 10, which is already wide enough to give you plenty of experience. Besides, expedition boats sailing around the islands allow you to visit more of these wild places.
